Capture as many tiles as you can.
When the last tiles are captured, each player's percentage of the whole board is added to their score. Just having a start-pad gets you nine tiles. So, each round produces 100 points divided between the two players. They accumulate.
You start at the bottom-right corner and the computer starts from the bottom-left corner. Each player has a big tile start pad.
There is no clock in this game. You can take as long as you like to consider your moves. There is a strong temptation to hurry your moves. I don't know why -- there just is.
You can capture any group of tiles that are edge-to-edge with yours. Just one left-click on any of the group will capture them all. Your own color changes to the color you clicked and they all merge, expanding your territory.
You cannot select tiles of your own current color or your opponent's current color. You can select any other color -- even when it is not connected to your territory. If it is not connected to your territory, you will not have captured it but since you have changed your current color to that color, the computer cannot capture it either! :-)
Since the computer cannot select your current color, it is possible to block the computer's best choice by selecting that color first. This is not often a profitable action as it costs you a move -- but if your current choices are of tiny wins and the computer's best choice captures a big group, then blocking the computer's move by selecting its best color, may delay the computer to your advantage.
Another tactic to consider is how to cut off the computer's progress in your direction. If you choose your colors so as to progress toward the top-left corner, you may be able to confine the computer's wins to just its own half of the board, or even less. The computer will be trying to do this to you -- I designed it to.
The delete key resets the board at any time. The score is not recalculated or set to zero. You simply start another game.
Pressing the Escape key instantly exits GreedMax. Scores are not saved.
